I'd like to get the board's thought on the following:
“The Renewal” – comedy
A couple, set to renew their wedding vows, finds out that their original nuptials are null & void, and begin to have second thoughts on whether they are truly meant for one another.

I am not sure if you have seen it, but in the TV show MAD ABOUT YOU, I think the final episode actually had a similar storyline. Jamie and Paul were married, even had a baby, and they realise that their original wedding was not legal so they re evaluate their relationship.

Thanks teamcoco.
I've never watched the show, but I will check it out.

Tellis, I actually think this could work if you get the tone right. Did you see this as a darker comedy or lighter, breezier rom-com?
Because frankly (and don't take this the wrong way), I can totally see an idea like this working as a vehicle for any number of female box office draws we currently have working.... an Aniston, a Berrymore, a Diaz... y'know?
Again, if you're looking to make this a bit sharper and bite a bit harder, then you'll have to indicate that in your logline but as it stands? Great Valentine's Day date movie. Big weekend numbers, dig? ;D

tellis,
I really like the title and initial logline. It sounds like the type of comedy that, while potentially being funny, might address some serious questions about marriage and relationships.
No real complaints here. Good stuff. Write it!

Thanks all for your feedback.
Hey Jeff, I envisioned this on the lighter side while trying to stir clear of the typical rom-com. It's funny that you mentioned Drew Barrymore, because she is who I was thinking for the female lead and Simon Peg for the male lead.

Would love to hear what ideas you have for this that make it a comedy. I dont see anything inherently funny about this. It sounds like a "He's just not that into you" type movie, which I wouldnt call funny.
