As sad as the passing of Salinger is, the passing of this "original" indie is equally so. In their heyday, they were the most vibrant and exciting studio out there, fostering such culturally groundbreaking films like THE PIANO, THE CROW, CLERKS, KIDS, BEAUTIFUL GIRLS, CITIZEN RUTH, THE ENGLISH PATIENT, TRAINSPOTTING, SWINGERS, COPLAND, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, and, of course, their crowning glories, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE and PULP FICTION.
At one time, Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Woody Allen, Jon Favreau, and Alexander Payne could call MIRAMAX home. Quite a list.
They've been a shell of their former self for some time but still... this is a sad day indeed. And certainly speaks volumes for the future of cinema.

What a real loss. Surely all those pictures made money?? I suppose they didn't make as much as Transformers Revenge, ( I can hardly bring myself to write those last two words).
