Just curious to know if anyone has submitted their work to an agent or producer?
If so - to who and what was the feedback?
Hope that's not to taboo to ask.
Also - is there a list with links to trusted agents or producers that one could submit their work?
Thanks for your time.

Mark, I generally send my queries to producers and not so much agents and/or managers. In general, I have found their responses to be friendly, but to the point -- with the exception of one or two, shall we say, folks that were having bad days. ;D As for a list of trusted agents… you might want to check the WGA West website for their list of Guild Signatory Agents and Agency ( www.wga.org/agency/agencylist.asp#top). As for producers…. Get a subscription to IMDb Pro. Search on movies in your genre, learn who the producer(s) are. Most of the time there are email addresses associated with the producer and/or his/her production company. If not, there is always Mr. Google. Hope this helps as you, Keep Writing!

Thanks for the reply. I still got a long way to go before I submit anything - I just wanted to know who to submit to and where. I will definitely look up the IMDB Pro.

I technically have a manager. I work at a talent management company, and a friend of mine with the ability to pass my stuff along (hence, technically, manager), does-so when he feels it is good enough. After completing my first script, he sent it out to a bunch of producers and agents. I also submitted it internally to a few other managers at my company. The reaction was generally "I like it, but it's not for me." TRANSLATION: "You suck, leave me alone, I can't make any money with this." Looking back, they were entirely right, and I was naive to think that my first script was anywhere close to passable. I even think Wyck Godfrey commented to my buddy "This isn't funny, at all."
Another manager, looking for new clients was given another piece of mine and she told me, "the writing isn't strong, and there are typos everywhere, I stopped after page eleven."
To make myself feel better, and to motivate myself, I have created a "HATER'S LIST," of all the people who have told me I suck...At the top of that list is MY MOTHER -- she and I have a great relationship, so it's not like an Eminem thing. She just has been a harsh critic, which deep-down, I appreciate.

I often wish I had a closer contact in the business. Someone I could really sit down and talk to openly without worrying about them simply judging me. I have a few really amazing connections to Oscar winners, but I'm not close to them in any sense right now. I'm hoping to cultivate those relationships soon as I finish my fourth screenplay.
I guess what I'm getting at is I'm timid because as of right now I'm uninformed. I don't know exactly how to go about the business of shelling out my screenplays or ideas. I know if I was in an elevator with someone I recognized, I'm confident I could catch their ear. I've always been told I'm nice to be around and I don't get nervous around those types, but I need to get into that elevator first, and it seems a massive leap to get there.
I've read most of the "query" posts by Scott and Unknown Screenwriter and others. Any advice from first-handers?
Thanks
-G

It's all agents here in the UK.
I sent out 30 queries. Got 24 'No's'. 5 didn't bother to f*****g answer. One said yes.
Guess who I'm with!
It's a war of attrition.
