I was lucky to share e-mails with MM, who provided great notes for my scripts. While MM was a stickler for newbies following the correct script format if they wanted to be taken seriously by a professional reader, his greatest advice for the newbie screenwriter was- don't bore the reader (read: the audience); have a GREAT STORY or the rest does not matter. To that end, if you have a GREAT STORY, you should be able to devise a killer logline to grab the reader's attention. LET'S SHARE.

Logline for one of my new scripts ... with a tagline:
"CATCH A FALLEN STAR"
Logline: An investigator apprentice returns to his hometown to hunt for a brilliant psychopath who has returned after seven years, but he becomes the hunted.
Tagline: Come into my parlor, said the Spider to the Fly. But who was the Spider and who was the Fly?

This is not a mystery -- but JJ says "everything is a mystery."
“MIDNIGHT RIDE”
Logline: Coming-of-age drama/comedy set in America at the onset of the British (Beatles) invasion, and the actions of a garage band cruising a small town in Pennsylvania on a night that changes the history of rock music.
Tagline: “She loves you, and you, and you, yeah, yeah, yeah.”

Tagline: Invasion of the mind snatchers.

MM didn't like sequels BUT maybe he'll make an exception-
“COLLAR BOMBER” (sequel to "Catch")
Logline: An investigator apprentice discovers a Colombian occult prophecy that threatens the U.S.
Tagline: All Roads lead to Columbia

re: "Purgatory." Great idea. Make it exciting and dramatic. Think LOST (but, you know, good.)
MM always said, "don't insult the intelligence of the audience with a hanging twist at the end."
JJ said, "Don't tell me what I can't do."

Mystery Man tells How to write a GREAT script:
FORGET the Similar but Different Formula if you are looking to write something GREAT. A GREAT idea and GREAT scenes provide a strong foundation to a GREAT SCRIPT you must have PASSION. Unless you are really lucky, you must have some personal connection to the story to have PASSION to write it.
If you look for ideas in the usual suspects - newspaper articles, radio news and talk shows, books, the Internet - chances are your story will be lacking PASSION. Write without passion But WE the audience will know your script is hollow.

I wrote "Grapevine" as a fictional story of a plot to use mind control via the Facebook website. Considering the garbage that Hollywood is selling US today, I think I should film it as a documentary:
Get Him to the Greek Iron Man 2 Jonah Hex Just Wright Killers Knight and Day Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Raavan Sex and the City 2 The A-Team The Karate Kid
