Hey guys, I am from the UK, i was reading about the pitching events that are staged in Hollywood - i think there is one big major one. Does anyone know whether these events are worth attending? My gut instinct says that paying hundreds of dollars to sell your ideas is kind of dumb, but i guess if you get a sit down with someone who can pull a lever for you then maybe it aint such a bad idea. Any thoughts appreciated.

Alex,
I did one Creative Screenwriting pitchfest during their Expo a handful of years back. It was the inaugural year for it, I believe, and it was a preposterous zoo. I actually went only to see what kind of mania a "pitchfest" would look like and it was an unmitigated disaster from the word 'go.'
Your gut instincts are correct. Creative Screenwriting (and others of their ilk) are, I'm sure, not totally insidious about it but at the same time, I'm sure charging heads a 100 bucks or more a pop sure helps keep the lights on and the water bill paid, eh?
Just my thoughts... perhaps someone else has a differing view.

By that token, I was thinking, once we get our YouTube page up and running (getting there...), I would open up a little "virtual pitchfest" for anyone into that sort of thing and we could all critique accordingly.
That be of value to anyone?
